Spain abides by the EU TPD (2014). In 2017 a Royal Decree 579/2017 was passed pertaining to the manufacture, advertising and sale of vaping products that transposes the EU TPD into Spanish regulations. There is a ban on smoking and vaping in all indoor state-owned public places, public transport and some outdoor places such as parks. Advertising is allowed on TV but regulations exist about the type of programme and the times of day advertisements can appear. Cross border sales are banned. There is no tax on e-cigarette liquid.

  • Several countries are banning e-cigarettes due to revelations of health risks to both users and bystanders. But in Indonesia, the world's second-largest cigarette market, the government has yet to put in place policies to prevent youths from taking up vaping. There has been no research on the prevalence of vaping among youth in Indonesia, but the Indonesian government should be alarmed by the reports of illness and death due to vaping in the US.
